Tungsten Chlorobromides
By treating tungsten hexachloride with liquefied hydrogen bromide at room temperatures, olive-green, hygroscopic crystals of the chlorobromide, WCl6.WBr6, are obtained, whereas the reaction at 60° to 70° C. produces the compound WCl6.3WBr6, a crystalline substance possessing similar properties. The latter melts at 232° C.; both are readily decomposed by water.
